It’s been a while since an update, but fear not! We have some exciting Northern Free Theatre news coming your way. NFT is coming soon, so stay tuned for more details!

We’re all a-beaming here at Northern Free Theatre because the work we’ve been doing for the last many months is finally out from under wraps and in the world! Free Theatre co-founders David and Charles, along with Sudbury mayor John Rodriguez, announced our plans for a new summer theatre festival, which will take place in the heart of Sudbury this summer.

Top Five NFT Need-To-Knows!

1. This summer’s show is Romeo & Juliet. And not just any Romeo & Juliet. Classical Theatre Project’s Dora-award nominated production has played to over 100,000 teens across North America. Maybe you heard the buzz about it in the Toronto Star, the National Post, or CBC radio this winter? Well, it’s coming to Sudbury and you don’t want to miss it!

2. Yes, you heard me right, free! The Northern Free Theatre is a non-profit organization supported by the city of Sudbury, sponsorship, and donation. Performances will be Pay What You Can, so bring the whole family for an amazing night of entertainment.

3. We need your help! Want to get involved? If you like marketing, coffee, and talking, join the ranks of our talented Street Team! Want to help out backstage? Join the Production Crew! And most importantly, if your business or organization believes in the Northern Free Theatre project, talk to us about our sponsorship program.

4. Romeo & Juliet runs August 17 to September 4, with evening performances Tuesday – Sunday. Hey! Doesn’t that coincide with Sudbury’s Ribfest? You bet it does! Shakespeare has never been so delicious.

5. But wait… there’s more! This year, it’s Romeo & Juliet – but the long term vision for Northern Free Theatre is to become an anchor for economic and cultural development in northern Ontario.  Eventually, the Northern Free Theatre will be a summer-long celebration of theatre, music, art, and entertainment. So join us now, while the theatre is still a baby – and watch it grow!
